Oil, Watercolour and Botanical Paintings
My interest in botanical painting started when I went to live in a remote Dales cottage
surrounded by a wealth of wildflowers and plants. It was a means to observe, identify and record what I saw when
out roaming the meadows and hillsides.
Now living close to the sea I am drawn to paint the 'beach finds' I collect out walking.

I work in Watercolour on Arches Hot Pressed Paper for images which demand fine detail. The
paintings on black paper involve a layer of white gouache then fine, almost dry brush marks on top with
watercolour to build up the colours and textures.
